The Sustainable Fashion Trends We Love This Spring

Spring is in the air, bringing with it a promise of the new – and as always, a new set of fashion trends. In the name of mindful shopping, it's important not to overindulge in trends: for a more sustainable approach, our wardrobes should transcend seasonality and veer more towards the evergreen.

However, chances are that you already have some of these in your wardrobe (so much of fashion is constant revivals), in which case spring 2025 is a perfect time to give them a new spin, and some others, like innovative plant leathers, are worth discovering. Here are the trends we will be giving a second glance to this season.

Olive leather

Leather made from olives is the hottest new material conquering the ethical fashion world - using ground olive pits or leftover substances from the olive-oil production process to make a durable, high-quality leather is the new frontier of plant-based fashion innovation. Olive leather is ideal for accessories such as bags, but can also be made into garments such as vegan leather jackets. Brands creating gorgeous designs with olive leather include Estimon, PREV, and Souleway.

Tank tops

This sporty classic dominated runways at Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, and Willy Chavarria. Going sleeveless for spring is a no-brainer, and a good tank can easily be dressed up with more formal trousers and heels for evening, or kept casual with denim and a blazer for day. KOMODO has some breezy linen-blend designs, while Baukjen offers sportswear-inspired styles in organic cotton.

Utility

Khaki and cargo elements popped up at Sacai, Isabel Marant and Gucci, inspiring yet another season of fashion meeting function. A fashion miracle material, hemp might just be one of the most sustainable things the industry has ever seen. Exotic-skins patterns on vegan leather

As designers such as Chanel, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham, Paul Smith, Burberry and more have all banned exotic skins from their collections, using the real deal is increasingly a faux pas. But if you secretly like the look of croc skins, this will be the year to indulge - choosing vegan leather of course. Embossing animal-free leathers with an exotic-animal print is a simple way to pay homage to the beauty of animals without abusing them. Brands like Estimon and Minuit Sur Terre are your best bet.
