A vegan-friendly bag... that also uses plastic-free vegan leather? It's not too good to be true. Handbag brand Lost Woods aims to deliver a selection of cruelty-free accessories that are also truly kind to the planet by omitting any plastic use. The Australian label is named in honour of the forests and land lost to deforestation, which is largely driven by cattle ranching.

About the Founder
Holly Edwards started the brand in her native area of Gold Coast, Australia, after a background in digital marketing and graphic design. Having discovered the vast devastation brought onto the natural world by humans' appetite for meat and leather, Holly decided to use her skills to make a change.
"Raising hundreds of millions of animals requires a lot of room. In fact, cattle ranching for beef and leather is the biggest driver of deforestation in the world. Our brand name Lost Woods pays homage to all of the forests and wildlife lost to leather."
Materials
Lost Woods works with MIRUM, the first plastic-free vegan leather in the world, developed by Natural Fiber Welding. The material is made from natural tree rubber plus plant oils and waxes, backed with cotton. The bags are lined with GOTS-certified organic cotton.

Production
Lost Woods produces its bags in Portugal, using high-tech cutting machines to minimise waste.

People
The brand operates under a code of conduct based on internationally recognised labour standards including the Labour Organisation Convention and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. All suppliers must read and sign this document, committing to fair pay and an ethical workplace.

Packaging
Lost Woods uses organic cotton bags and cardboard to ship their products.

Animals
Lost Woods is a 100% vegan brand, and this is a fundamental part of their ethos.
